Fatal Accident

Burke - an inquest into the death of Martin Burke returned a verdict of "accidental death" He had been crushed as a log rolled over him at Rathbone & Craven's sawmill.

Baldwin - An inquest/enquiry touching on the death of William Baldwin returned a verdict to effect that the deceased had hung himself during a fit of temporary insanity.
witnesses: Walter Beyer (compositer for the Herald), Sophia Beyer (sister of the deceased and wife of Mr. Beyer), Constable Ryan

McIntyre - at Dunedin, this story was covered over quite a few issues, an inquest into the death of Margaret McIntyre, aged 17 years, who died malnourished and with bruising and cuts, at the home of her employer,Mrs G. F. Reid. the verdict at her inquest was to the effect that death had resulted from ill-treatment and starvation, the jury will decide to what extent Mrs Reid was responsible in the death. She was arrested in the meantime.

White - At Christchurch a warder  of the lunatic asylum, named Frederick White, was stabbed to death by an inmate named Mark Price.. the inquest was adjourned and the following 6 months of papers are missing so I cant give the result.

serious accident

Hitchings - Claud Walter Hampton Hitchings, son of Doctor Hitchings, aged about 12, had an accident while playing on some ballast trucks at the railway line, recovering but one or both legs might have to be amputated (later, June 27 issue it is reported that he died)

drowning

Daley - at Wellington Harbour Thomas Daley, a fireman on board the Hinemoa was found on the beach. His watch had stopped at 2.26.
